Professor Amy Jamieson is a recognized leader in health, wellness, and exercise prescription, with over two decades of experience as a lecturer and mentor at UC Santa Barbara. She has played a central role in shaping the field of exercise science education through her work training hundreds of fitness professionals, developing academic curriculum, and supervising student interns and fitness instructors.

Her influence extends beyond campus, as she actively participates in national and international wellness and fitness conferences as both a presenter and attendee. Professor Jamieson holds multiple industry certifications, including board certification in Nutrition (AASDN), and credentials in personal training and performance (NASM), fitness instruction (Schwinn, AFAA, IDEA), and health coaching (ACE). She is also an ACE Master Instructor for accredited programs.

In the area of educational innovation, Professor Jamieson has been a driving force behind the expansion of online and hybrid learning at UCSB and across the University of California system. She has received multiple grants recognizing her forward-thinking approach, including funding to develop one of UCSB’s first fully online summer courses and an Innovative Learning Technology Initiative (ILTI) grant to create hybrid and cross-campus wellness courses.

Beyond the classroom, she leads key student wellness initiatives. She redeveloped and currently manages the Wellness and Fitness Institute at UCSB, a comprehensive health and fitness assessment center that supports student well-being.
