Dr. Allison Slade

Dr. Allison Slade has been integrally involved in the fields of fitness, health, exercise and sports for more than 27 years. As a Division 1 student athlete, Allison competed at the very highest level of competition while at UC Santa Barbara and continued to pursue her passion of exercise and nutrition at San Jose State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology. She later went on to complete a master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion at California University of Pennsylvania and a Doctoral Degree in Health Science from A.T. Still University. Her vast experience as an athlete, coach, fitness professional, business owner, and health practitioner has led her to the classroom setting where she has spent the past fifteen years lecturing both at the community college and university setting. Dr. Slade has taught a number of health education courses encompassing all areas of physical, psychological, personal, and community wellness with an emphasis on disease prevention, nutrition, aging, and stress management. Allison's administrative background includes extensive experience in curriculum writing and online education. She has developed a number of hybrid, online, health related courses with emphasis on personal health, sports nutrition, and health fitness. Dr. Slade has spent many years in athletic administration and also founded and operated comprehensive wellness and fitness businesses in Northern California. She has also served on numerous health education related committee's and enjoyed great success as a grant writer and grant recipient. Mostly recently, she has received a grant from the UCOP Innovative Learning Technology Initiative to be directed towards the creation of an online nutrition course for the UC wide system. Dr. Slade brings a holistic approach to her work and teaching, serving as an extraordinary role model and mentor, especially for college aged females.
